School Advisory Council (SAC)
School Advisory Council
Adaire’s School Advisory Council advises the principal on important school matters and works to support student achievement, a positive school climate, and strong home-school connections. It is composed of family members, the school principal, teachers or other school-based staff, students, and community members. SAC meetings are open to all and ANY Adaire community member who attends a SAC meeting is a voting member of SAC according to our by laws. There are also 11 SAC leadership positions and a number of committee chairs. Beginning in the spring of 2023, SAC leadership holds elections for positions to serve for the following school year. Please join us.

Current SAC Committees
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
Chair: Jonny Rashid
Meeting: Second Wednesday of each Month @ 8pm
AdaireSAC.DEI@gmail.com
The SAC-DEI Committee works to make Adaire a welcoming place for all families and staff. We primarily do this by working to dismantle systems of oppression within our community. For example, we may try to change policies or practices that might make groups of people feel excluded. We also strive to support individuals’ own anti-racism journeys through resource sharing and events.
Middle School
C0-Chairs: Maggie Wachter & Mary Stephan
The SAC Middle School Committee gives special attention to the oldest students at Adaire. Our mission is 1) to help create a distinct middle school experience that provides students with all the skills and experiences they need to be successful at whatever high school they choose and 2) to educate Adaire’s elementary families about the benefits of an Adaire middle school experience.
Enrichment & Engagement (E&E)
Chair: CURRENTLY SEEKING CHAIR OR CO-CHAIR, email AdaireSchoolAdvisoryCouncil@gmail.com to express interest.
The SAC-E&E Committee works to bring more enrichment activities to the school day and afterschool hours. We believe that activities that allow students to develop leadership, social-emotional, and physical skills are just as important as the academic ones. We also believe that when school is fun, kids feel more connected, and do better. We plan events and ongoing enrichment activities.
Facilities & Safety
Chair: John Casella
AdaireSAC.Facilities@gmail.com
The Facilities & Safety Committee helps ensure our school environment meets the needs of students, staff, and families. We work on small improvement projects throughout the year and advocate for larger improvements as needed.
Communications
Co-Chairs: Peggy Paul Casella & Kate Bosco McDevitt
AdaireSAC.Communications@gmail.com
The Communications Team supports the school by getting the word out about important happenings at the school. Most importantly, our volunteers put together the weekly “Adaire E-News” newsletter which is sent each Sunday.
