School Advisory Council (SAC)

School Advisory Council

Adaire’s School Advisory Council advises the principal on important school matters and works to support student achievement, a positive school climate, and strong home-school connections. It is composed of family members, the school principal, teachers or other school-based staff, students, and community members. SAC meetings are open to all and ANY Adaire community member who attends a SAC meeting is a voting member of SAC according to our by laws. There are also 14 SAC leadership positions and a varying number of committee chairs. Beginning in the spring of 2023, SAC leadership will be elected in the spring to serve for the following school year. Please join us.

SAC UPDATES:

Next School Advisory Council Meeting is February 7th
The School Advisory Council (SAC) meets every other month to advise the school leadership and build an active community of engaged families. All are welcome and valued voices, including students, teachers, and staff. Please register here and include any questions or topics you’d like to have discussed at the meeting.

SAC DEI Committee Wants to Hear From YOU!
Members of the SAC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee are hosting informal coffee chats to hear from members of our school community on issues relevant to DEI. What makes Adaire a welcoming place? How could we improve? We want to hear from all families, especially families of color, LGBTQ+ families, and other groups that experience systems of oppression. All feedback will be kept in confidence. Reach out to chair Jonny Rashid at AdaireSAC.DEI@gmail.com for more info. Also, the DEI Committee meets every other Friday at 9am if you’d like to get involved.

SAC Facilities Committee
The newest SAC committee on the block is the Facilities Committee. We’ll meet weekday mornings because we are glad to count Building Engineer Mr. Rob Williams among our members. If you’d like to get involved, reach out to AdaireSchoolAdvisoryCouncil@gmail.com!

Current SAC Committees

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
Chair: Jonny Rashid
Meetings: Every other Friday, 9-10am
AdaireSAC.DEI@gmail.com

The SAC-DEI Committee works to make Adaire a welcoming place for all families and staff. We primarily do this by working to dismantle systems of oppression within our community. For example, we may try to change policies or practices that might make groups of people feel excluded. We also strive to support individuals’ own anti-racism journeys through resource sharing and events.

Middle School
Chair: Ellyn Dvorin
Meetings: Every other Sunday evening, 8:30pm
Adaire.6th8th@gmail.com

The SAC Middle School Committee gives special attention to the oldest students at Adaire. Our mission is 1) to help create a distinct middle school experience that provides students with all the skills and experiences they need to be successful at whatever high school they choose and 2) to educate Adaire’s elementary families about the benefits of an Adaire middle school experience.

Enrichment & Engagement (E&E)
Chair: Lindsay Estes Li
Meetings: As needed, contact email below for details
AdaireSAC.Enrichment@gmail.com

The SAC-E&E Committee works to bring more enrichment activities to the school day and afterschool hours. We believe that activities that allow students to develop leadership, social-emotional, and physical skills are just as important as the academic ones. We also believe that that when school is fun, kids feel more connected, and do better. We plan events and ongoing enrichment activities.
